For those not aware, Laird got her credentials as Iris opposite Jeremy Renner in Paramount+’s Mayor of Kingstown and also starred in The Crowded Room opposite Tom Holland. Apart from The Brutalist, her filmography also includes A Haunting in Venice, 28 Years Later, and its sequel.
Now, Black Mirror Season 8 set photos showed Emma Laird in a light blue vintage Adidas track jacket, a plaid skirt with lace trim, and loafers. She waits near a bus stop displaying an advertisement for “Ditta Debonaire” crisps in a Seared Wagyu Beef & Dijon Mustard flavor, a fictional product consistent with the show’s world-building.
After all, Charlie Brooker’s trademark hidden references appear throughout the filming location. Club posters pinned to plywood boarding behind the crew advertise a “Striking Vipers 24th birthday” celebration. Additional text references “National Anthem,” “Arkangel,” “araknoiax” from Bandersnatch, and “recaller” from Crocodile. These details suggest Black Mirror Season 8 continues threading connections through its established lore rather than treating episodes as isolated stories.
Executive producer Jessica Rhoades addressed the new season during the Toronto International Film Festival. She confirmed cameras remain rolling but declined to share specifics. “It’s the one thing I can never talk about, but I’m sharing the couch with two alumni, so it’s very exciting,” Rhoades told Collider. “It’s so much fun. I mean, honestly, we’re excited to be shooting again. I’m going right back from here, so more to come.”
Black Mirror Season 8 release date is yet to be announced.
