D23: Disney's ultimate fan celebration is back. IGN is on the ground all weekend bringing you the biggest news, exclusive content, deep dives and more. Tonight, the show kicks off with the Disney Entertainment showcase. The presentation will feature reveals from the next two years of Disney's theatrical and streaming slate. That potentially means news about X-Men, Star Wars, Frozen 3, and more.
D23 has already seen a new trailer for Disney+'s LEGO Mandarlorian animated special, a look at a new Avatar ride at Disney's California Adventure, a first look at Mystique and Nigthcrawler's costumes from Avengers: Doomsday, and more.

Kevin Feige, Paul Bettany, and James Spader Talk VisionQuestMCU Boss Kein Feige and Paul Betany (Vision) and James Spader (Ultron) just took the stage to talk about the upcoming series VisionQuest, premiering this October on Disney+ and roll a new trailer for the show.
“It’s been an enourmous joy playing Vision as he’s evolved over the years," Bettany says. "He’s helped turn the tide in some enormous battles. MSW the ultiamate sacrifice in Infiniry War and unfornuately died several times. It made long-term financial planning difficult. I can tell you in the MCU no one is ever really dead. This Vision is beginning to ask complicated questions. What or perhaps who is he, and what makes us actually human? Which naturally brings us to Ultron. Ultron is back, and apparently we’re gonna figure out humanity together, so obviously tha tshuld go extremely well.
“Frankly I can’t believe it took you so long to turn to me," Spader added. "Everyone knows Ultron has long been fascinated by humanity.”
Jon Favreau introduces Oswald animated miniseries.MCU and Star Wars mainstay Jon Faveau is is here to introduce Oswald, who he says is "a character Walt Disney created before Mickey Mouse. He lost the rights to Oswald, but ended up making Mickey. Disney got the rights to Oswald back. It’s coming to Disney+ as a three part miniseries this February."
Favreau says Oswald utilizes hand-drawn 2D animation and that Disney brought a lot of old 2D animators back for the project. The story is set in many historic locations Disney fans will know.
Favreau also is teasing his NatGeo miniseries Lion, which follows a pride over four years the longest any crew has ever filmed something like that. Favreau says that nothing is staged in the series and that Hans Zimmer is doing the score. Lion premies August 20 on Disney+
Tangled live-action movie gets a 2028 release date.Kathryn Hahn (Agatha All Along) is on stage now to talk Tangled. Hahn will be playing the villainous Mother Gothel in the movie, which now has an official release date: March 31, 2028.
We're also finally getting some first-look footage of the movie. Hahn says they've been filming on location all across Spain and that her interpreatation of Mother Gothel is "Stunning, hillarious, fab, and kind."

Queen Latifah and Denis Leary are here to give us a new look at the next Ice Age movie.
“Ice Age is back and it’s coming in hot, y’all," Latifah says. The duo revealed that the team are finishing up the movie now, and that "it’s a funny and scary, adventure [that] will be kicked off by Scrat."
Next, we're treated to a trailer shows Scrat and baby Scart. As always, the hilarity kicks off with an acorn, which Scrat has shvoed into the ground. Next, he’s trying to catch the acorn in a river of lava. Thee mammoths are back. Sid the sloth is back as well, along with a bunch of other familiar characters. Ice Age: Boiling Point hits theaters February 2027.
The Jonas Brothers hype up Camp Rock 3.Nick, Joe, and Kevin Jonas are now here to promote Camp Rock 3, which debuted today on Disney+. “We are so pumped to be back where it all started," they say. "Back at the camp, back at the lake, back to pretending to know how to canoe. This time, we’re not the only new kids. There’s a whole new generation and the chance to go on tour.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians cast teases Season 3The cast of the Disney+ adaptation of the Percy Jackson book series is here to tease Season 3, which premieres on November 20. We also are getting a look at some new characters including Athena and Hera, who's played by Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. actress Ming Na Wen. “The family politics are impossible to ignore," Wen says. "This season we are introducing the Hunters of Artemis, powerful new demigods, and a Titan whos been waiting a very long time to make his move.”
Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino give an update on Romy and Michele 2Romy and Michele's High School Reunion is getting a sequel and stars Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino are here to tell us about the movie. “Fashion is still our life, and we still own our very own boutique in Beverly Hills," the duo says. "It’s relaly chic. We’re entering a whole new phase of our lives. We’re thinking maybe its time to find true love. But will we find it? You just have to find out. Maybe we’ll find tru love here at D23. Do you now what this means? We’re officially Disney princesses.”
Angel coming to Lilo and Stitch 2, which releases in May 2028.In a brief update for the upcoming live-action Lilo and Stitch 2, we're informed that Angel (also known as Experiment 624) will be a character in the new movie, which releases in May of 2028.
New Looks at Ghost Market and GattoTo round out the Pixar preview, we got new looks at the original films Gatto, debuting in March 2027, and Ghost Market, coming in Spring 2028.
For Ghost Market, we see the movie's protagonist, a content creator named Kyle (he's from Chicago) being chased by a sentient bowl of ramen and chopsticks before stumbling into a mysterious hidden market in the middle of nowhere.
For Gatto, made by the director director of of the Pixar film Luca, we're informed that the movie centers on a black cat named Nero who lives in Venice, Italy. Most cats see water as their mortal enemy. Nero is an alley cat whose the top operative for the cat world’s top mob boss. We're treated to an extended clip from the movie involving Nero, some pigeons, and a girl playing a violin.
Kingdom Hearts series greenlit for Disney+Kingdom Hearts is getting an anime adaptation. An original series, "inspired by the globally beloved video game franchise, has been greenlit for Disney Channel Disney+ and is being developed in partnership with Tetsuya Nomura and the creative team at SQUARE ENIX. According to Disney, the series r"eimagines the iconic adventure with a brand-new story that will expand on the universe of Kingdom Hearts while celebrating the characters that have captured the hearts of millions of fans around the world."
Coco 2 hits theaters in 2029.Now, Docter is giving an update on the long-awaited Coco sequel. "We are returning to the land of hte dead in 2029," Docter says. The directors from original are back to bring this one to life and make it just as good as the first.
Joining Docter on stage is Benjamin Bratt, who voiced Ernesto de la Cruz in the first Coco movie. Bratt confirms that he's reprirsing his role in Coco 2, which picks up a few short years after the original. In the sequel, Miguel is a bit older now. "He’s a teenager, Bratt says. "Still strumming ‘my’ guitar. To many of you, Miguel is a precious little boy who sang a beautiful song and brought harmony back to his family but to some he’s a menace. Ernesto is back for revenge, sending Miguel on an adventure back to the land of the dead."
Bratt also revealed that characters from Coco will be joining Kingdom Hearts IV, launching in late 2027.
Coco 2 comes out in November 2029.

Pixar Chief Creative Office Pete Docter is now on stage to celebrate the animation studio's 40th anniversary and give some new info about The Incredibles 3. Docter is explaining the premise of the movie "Supers are officially legal again," Docter says. "With Incredibles 3, it's the kids' turn to take the stage. Violet and Dash are determined to stand on their own and prove they are ready to be real Supers. They have been sneaking out at night to protect the city. They are struggling to contain Jack Jack, whose powers make it even more unpredeictable and dangerous. A new threat is taking a toll on Bob, who is struggling with his relevance in a world of Supers who have outgrown him. Not all Supers are good. In Incredibles 3 the family will face off against a [new] supervillain."

A first look at the new Simpsons movie.Disney President and Cheif Creative Officer just introduced an on-screen appearance by the one and only Bart Simpson, who teased a look at the Simpsons Movie sequel, which doesn't come out until next year. We're being treated to stroyboard illustrations of Homer trying to catch a home run at a baseball game where (of course), hijinks ensue as he chases the ball through the entire stadium, out into the streets as a horde of fans are behind him trying to catch it. They chase it into the Bowlarama and then into an operating room.
The clip is hilarious and full of classic Simpsons gags. It ends with Homer diving into a giant beer container which promtply explodes. He flies back into the stadium, where Bart picks up the ball. D’oh!
Anne Hathaway gives an update on the Princess Diaries 3.Anne Hathaway is here to give an update on The Princess Diaries 3. The long-awaited sequel is currently in development and looks like it's not coming any time soon.
"Throuhgout these films we have grown up together and I’m so amazed at how deeply people have held these stories and characters in their hearts," Hathaway says. "I’m here to ask you please never stop reciting your favorite lines to me. I have come to love being told to shut up. Being part of the Disney family also means being part of a legacy studio that deeply vaues the family audience it makes content for. It’s why we are working so hard to get Princes Diaries 3 right, thanks for your patience."
D23 Hosts take the stage.Hosts Ke Huy Quan (Loki) and Ginnifer Goodwinn (Zootopia), the hosts for this evening's showcase, have taken the stage. They're joined by Disney CEO Josh D'Amaro, who are setting the stage for all the big announcements to come. "We have new stories coming, experiences that will take your breath away.," D'Amarao says. "Announcements that will make you lean over and ask person next to you, 'Did you see that?'"
Go Time.The lights are down and the show is starting. After a glipse of the Doomsday clock, we're being treated to a promo reel and some Disney notables (Robert Downey Jr., Jessie from Toy Story) shushing the crowd and a massive crew of dancers taking the stage, bopping to a mash-up of classic songs like "For the First Time in Forever" from Frozen and "You've Got a Friend in Me" from Toy Story. Good stuff to follow!
We're About to BeginAttendees are seated in the Honda Center and the show is about to begin. So far, the crowd has been treated to some freebies and a few cosplayers on stage to get everyone excited.
